Tips For Starting Out

If you've stumbled upon this you're probably searching for a helpful resource that just might help you decide how to go about your time in Azeroth. I've got some good news for you; you're in the right place to find out!
First off, you will need to create a character, if you have already done so skip to the next paragraph, if not, read on. A character will be either alliance of horde faction, meaning you will team with members of the side of your character and fight together against the side you aren't on. Each race can only be certain classes but both factions have enough races so that you can create any class you desire. You can choose from a druid, hunter, mage, paladin, priest, shaman, warlock or warrior.
Making your first levels: A guide on starting out in WoW wouldn't really be complete without telling you that quests are the staple diet of a leveler in WoW. You should make every effort you can to complete all of the quests you find as they not only provide excellent experience through the entire game but also get lower level characters their first pieces of GEAR... this will make you tougher to kill, do more damage etc.
I also suggest that early on you pick up a trade skill that compliments your character. For example, a mage may benefit from tailoring, a warrior form blacksmithing. You could also pick a trade skill that I always recommend: alchemy. Alchemy is beneficial to all classes as it provides potions that increase various stats, as well as enabling you to make your own health and mana restoring potions.
Social networking: WoW is first and foremost an MMO, an online subculture of our world with a massive amount of individuals logged on at any one time. Early on you should look to make new friends your level to work with. You should also join a friendly guild that you find perhaps from grouping with a member or a guild who advertises that it's purpose is to help all levels level up and have fun (as opposed to a guild focused on end game raiding for example). This will ensure that during those times when you want to run dungeons for better loot than that provided by quests, or if you have a quest you can't do on your own, you'll have someone to call on for help.
I hope these tips help you enjoy your time in game, good luck!

World of Warcraft Tricks

AVOID DROWNING:
Okay, so you know when you are in very deep water and that fatigue meter comes up, right? Well if you dont want it to go down and you to drown then... find a landmass and ram your head straight into it. The fatigue meter will disappear and you will be okay for the next few seconds.
KILL ROUGES:
If you happen to get jumped by a Rogue and he runs off mid-fight to vanish and regroup/heal, simply summon a Gnomish Battle Chicken (230 Engineering) - it will automatically find him, stealth or not. For some reason the Chicken ignores stealth, and goes after your attacker.
GNOME SPEED LOOT:
From a friend's account, I've done some more research into my "Gnasty Trick" exploit, it turns out Gnomes in a party are processed slightly faster for looting, and if you're on a Quest for a certain monster, and that corpse has YOUR Quest Item in it, you can loot it, regardless whose "turn" it REALLY is, and so far as I've seen, regardless of what the party's Loot Setting is. Obviously, don't pull this too often, unless you LIKE getting other players mad at you, and/or someone might turn this one in and get it fixed...Blizzard LIKES fixing things, even BEFORE they're broken!
Clarification:
Let's say you're grouped with some Humans, doing one of the Brotherhood of Defilas Quests, whether or not they're on the Quest. You kill one of the Bandits, and by luck, it has one of the Bandannas you're after! You can loot it, get the Bandanna, regardless of whose "turn" it's SUPPOSED to be...HOWEVER! While you have it open, if that corpse has money or Linen or WOOL on it, you can grab that too while you're at it! By some odd coincidence, it'll "sparkle" (Meaning lootable) on both yours AND whose ever turn it's "supposed" to be to loot! You CAN both loot it at the same time, at which point, it'll become a contest of reflexes (And connection-speed--I always lose that part) on who can click on what first to grab it!
MOLTEN CORE:
The entrance is inside of Blackrock Depths. It's after you clear the Room of Seven or whatever the name of it is, and before you enter the Lyceum. You kill the 7 spirits in the Room of Seven and go through the door, instead of going straight into the Lyceum, take a right. You fight 2 sets of 3 of the Fireguard elementals, one set, cross a bridge, another set. In front of you you'll see a green glowing portal. That's Molton Core. Note: This is a raid instance, and it's not single pull mobs but in chains of 2 or more. Now heres the exploit, your main party will contain 1 Warlock & 1 Rogue and then 2 other classes dones't matter for summoning. The rogue will sneak past ALL the mobs and get right up to the main Lava boss. Right then ask the Warlock to summon the rogue, when the rogue gets the "Accept Summon" button he will go and smack the boss from behind and then port. OK get ready, because 2 minutes later the boss will arrive at the doorstep of the instance and he's tough! Conquest beat him legit but this way you can skip all the raid mobs. Enjoy. This may be patched in upcoming patch however as of now it works so use caution. WEAPON SKILL:
NOTE: Hunter in Party Needed I figured out the BEST way to max out ALL weapon exp not just ranged like in all the other guides it is EXTREMELY EASY but requires that you have a hunter friend with you (any level hunter) Ok now you have your hunter go to the coast and Tame a crab (not sure if it works with other animals but it forsure works with crab) then you have him dismiss the pet, the pet will jsut sit there while you wail on it and ALL of your attacks will miss but unlike the other guides here that tell you about getting weapon exp by having attacks miss mine works for MELEE also which is awesome! I got my hunter maxed on every weapon within 15 minutes (the crabs dissapear after like 8 minutes so you have to tame them and dismiss again.
ZIGZAG TO SAFTEY:
The AI pathing in WoW is not too great, small strafing stidesteps (otherwise known as zig zaging) will cause the AI Mob to do the same thing. Problem is that the AI takes split seconds longer to change direction so if you are in a bind, you can escape alot more easily by zig zagging as you run for your life!
FIGHT IN NUETRAL TOWNS:
Priests PK in Neutral towns. Priests are able to MC (Mind Control) and Pain (DoT) in Neutral towns without drawing agro from the guards. Enter a Neutral town, DoT your victim, and when they attack back they will be attacked by the guards.
HUNTER TIPS:
Taming pet: Use ice trap then start taming the pet. (Gives you 10 sec free) Healers: Use scatter shot to make them run away from a channeled spell. Pet: Use a fast attacking pet to interrupt spells, flying pets to get in the way of PVP. PVP: If attacking a melee character (warrior, palidan, shaman, rogue, etc) use a movement slowing spell (concussion or wing clip), run away from the character and jump+attack (ranged weapon) while running away. If you jump and use the mouse to look back at your enemy, you can fire Arcane Shot or Concussive Shot at them in mid-air, then spin back to the original direction and keep running. Basic principle of kiting for a hunter (or any instant cast, ranged ability that requires facing the opponent).
SUMMON LEVEL 70s TO LOW LEVEL MEETING STONES:
1. (use F keys to target ex. F1 F2 etc) target the low lvl that can actually be summoned on the stone.
2. click the stone and use the F key that targets the higher lvl
for example say F1 targets a lvl 24 pally in the group and F3 targets lvl 70 in ur grp
3. the second u click the summoning stone click the F key that targets the higher lvl really fast before the portal starts up
4. have one of the other party members click it then boom your summoning lvl 70s that u normally cant to BRD , deadmines SFK BFD and so on
SUPER SPELL DAMAGE:
Dreamweave armor adds 1-35 damage to damaging spells. Rather than check that value each time a spell is cast they decided to save themselves some floating point calcs and only check it ONCE... that time being when the armor is first put on. So you put on a Dreamweave Vest and a roll is made and that value is added to your global damage modifier. When you take the vest off it makes another roll and subtracts that value from your global spell damage modifier. Note that it doesn't take off the SAME random value it added when you put it on, but instead takes off a different random value from 1-35. So say you put the vest on and it rolls a 10 and so all yer spells are at +10 damage. If you take it off then it rolls a 27. Now you are at -17 damage to all spells you cast... Not a good thing! However if you get lucky then your put-on roll is higher than your take-off roll and you end up with a NET gain of +damage. This is endlessly repeatable so via a random walk process you can end up with a HUGE +damage modifier and then put on your Arcanist or whatever real armor to go PvP'ing in. Of course you are equally likely to end up with a HUGE -damage modifier so you have to take care to keep track of what your modifier is at any time and dress/undress accordingly. With this you can do some massive damage.

World of Warcraft Basic Tips

Get cosmos UI. Its free, its legal. Install it, use it, love it!
Autoloot everything. Shift + Right Click on a kill. Saves a ton of time. Or better yet, turn automatic looting on in the interface menu.
Get as many quests as possible, simultaneously. Do not do quests "1 at a time". When entering a new map region, go to the "main" town first, speak to all the NPC's, get all the quest, and then proceed to explore.
Remember that some quests can be a waste of time, requiring you spend an hour running to and from different people. Don't be afraid to abandon quests in favor of other ones. Wasting time on crappy quests isn't worth it.
Use groups to your advantage. Grouping will immensely speed up your power-game, but do it only when necessary. About 25% of the quests are group quests, and you will waste time trying to solo them- UNLESS you wait until you are a few levels higher and the quest becomes green (good tip for solo'ers). The rest of the quests, you can solo. There are some conditions here, however: Beware of inefficient groups! A group that doddles around or keeps dying trying to complete a quest will slow you down! You are better off soloing in this case. If you are a Shaman, or a Paladin or have a quick way to heal yourself and mele both, then you may be better off soloing more often than not. Warriors and types that mele well but can't heal, and priests and mages who have little armor function better in groups. Groups work well! But they must be efficient groups.
LEVEL-GRINDING: Killing stuff a few levels below you (con green) is a GREAT way to quickly rack up EXP and grind out a level. Yea, its boring, but it pays! You don't take much damage, you kill them fast, you have quick recovery (low down time). Fast, numerous smaller EXP gains add up over time much quicker than higher, but slower EXP gains with more down time. If you are struggling with a quest, you may want to consider 'level grinding' yourself by spending time killing lesser creatures and then tackle the quest If you want a really quick way to gain a level or two, use the AFK Realm BOT supplied at this website. Its at your own risk, of course, but it is a great source of 'bonus' exp on the side, when you are AFK.
GREAT TIP: Doing quests 3 or more levels higher than you, or an elite quest solo may only take excess time, UNLESS you are in a group, dont attempt them. If you spend 5 hours trying to do a level 15 quest and you are at level 13, you may get it done. But in those same 5 hours, you could have made level 15 simply by killing stuff 2-3 levels beneath you. And then doing the quest in 1 hour. So in 6 hours, you get the quest done, and are at level 15, as opposed to finishing the quest in 5 hours and still being at level 13. Trust me on this one....this kind of thing happens all the time in this game. Its soooo tempting to go for that mob boss who's three levels above you and finish your quest solo. You could literally waste 10 hours, or even days trying. BUT, if you get in a group, then you can do it in a cinch. OR you can 'level grind' yourself. This is the heart of powering through this game to the upper levels.
AVOID THIS BIG MISTAKE: Players are too quick to use DPS (damage per second) on their weapons as the primary factor. This is just not true! Abilities such as % to crit and damage bonuses are calculated based upon the damage of the weapon or its speed. DPS is just an 'average' and is never used in computing an ability. Example: Weapon A: a slow, heavy weapon deals 110-130 damage, yet is only 80 DPS Weapon B: a faster weapon deals 75-85 damage, and is 85 DPS. most players will equip weapon B automatically. Well if you are a warrior and you like to use your mortal strike ability....this would be a terrible idea! Why? Because Mortal Strike on weapon A would deal 220-260 damage and on weapon B would deal 150-170 damage. Quite the difference!
Here is another: Weapon A: super fast, super light. 10 DPS, speed of 1.5 Weapon B: not as fast, but harder hitting: 12 DPS, speed of 3 Now, lets say you are a Rogue, and you have all your abilities in %critical chance. You have a 12% chance to crit with every swing. With Weapon A, you will have twice as many crits as you will with weapon B! You see why its not always automatic to equip the higher DPS weapon? In Macro's and speech, remember that %t will cite your current target. Shift + Clicking on something will add it to your speech or your macro. Both %t and shift+click come in very handy. At about level 12-15 or so, you can travel to another race's "starting region" and still be low enough in levels to get the quests in that area. They will be a cinch to solve and you will still get some exp for the kills. (this is optional, might be something you want to do). Many of the really great weapons drop off bosses inside of instances. Roll on everything. Acquire, Acquire, Acquire.
One-Handed + Wand Bug (might be a bug, i dunno): While in combat, if you have a wand equipped in your off-hand and are engaged in mele combat, you can double your damage by hitting with your wand and your mace simultanously. Normally, when you "use" a wand, it resets the timer on your one-handed swing. But not if you time it right. Wait until your character is just about to swing with his melee weapon (you see his arm fly back). At this very moment, use your wand, and you will get a double punch! A great trick that turns a caster into a tank. For this reason alone, I would never go for a 2-H weapon as a caster. (I play priest and this dual mace + wand thing works as if I am dual-wielding, making me into a genuine tank. It works wonders i tell ya!)
Honor Kills: Do not join raid groups for honor points....you will get virtually nothing. Solo or a normal party is your best bet for getting maximum contribution points. Being in a RAID will cut your contribution points down to the absolute minimum per kill.
Basic Gold Guide

The Five Basic Ways to Make Money
1) The Gatherer
There are many things to be gathered in the game. This includes leather, herbs, ore, fish, linen, wool, mageweave, stones, gems, and so on. A lot of gold can be made by gathering, however, it takes a lot of time to make money by gathering.
Many players begin to make their money by gathering - and I encourage it. And, later on, finding a rare vein or herb can bring in several gold alone. There isn't too much to say here but to get the gatherer mod (works wonders) and go tohttp://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/ and check out the resource maps.
The benefit of being a gatherer is that you don't ever have to buy supplies. Moreover, you may just find the things to mine/gather while leveling. This is especially true with leather (tradeskill is skinning).
One thing to note - you cannot pass level 225 in your skill until you are at least level 35.
Note - ALWAYS sell your gathered items at the auction house - always. It costs next to nothing to put them up for auction even at 24 hour durations. If they don't sell, just put them up again. Constant Buyers find them, they are out there. Read on into the crafter section to learn more about constant buyers.
2) The Farmer
This is a profession usually taken on by those of higher (level 40+, usually 55+) level characters. This takes more time than being a gatherer - and the payoff *may* be higher. The *may* is the 3% chance, or .03% for some items, that an item worth x amount of gold at the Auction House will drop (check www.thottbot.com to see the drop rate of items). So, with this way of making money, you may make 20g in a day or 200g or 2000g depending on what drops - pure chance. Some like this idea for the high potential.
Like I said, always sell the item at the auction house. If you don't know what it is worth, look at items similar to it and price accordingly. If you still don't know, put it up for some absurd amount - there's a chance someone may buy it. I suggest putting what you want as the base price, and an absurd number for the buyout at 24 hour bid time - do this on the weekend as well as more people are on (at least 3x) during the weekends.
Example: The Deviate Scale Belt Recipe is a quest reward from the wailing caverns. My fianceé decided she would sell hers at the auction house. She wasn't sure what it was worth, so she put it up for 50s base and 6 gold buyout, 24 hour time period. If you don't know, there's no way it should be worth more than 1 gold due to the fact that it is an easily obtained quest reward. Guess what - it sold! I guess whoever wanted it didn't want to wait the 24 hours to get the item (as most don't) so just bought it out.
Drawbacks:
It costs a lot to put those items up for bid. And if it doesn't sell, you have lost that money.
To compensate for this - first, always sell on Fri/Sat/Sun. Store the items you get in the bank until the weekend. Also, put the item up around 7pm on Friday evening with a 24 hour bid time if you can. Repeat on Saturday if you still have it. This will ensure that the most people see it. Advertising isn't a bad idea as well - once every 30 minutes (once every 5 to 10 minutes if you are on a high population server). You can do a /2 [item][item][item] at the Auction House. People will click on those boxes to see what they are, just out of curiosity. To make the [item] that people can click on, shift + click the item when you are entering text in the chat screen.
Last note - sometimes going for the lower level item may be more profitable than the higher level item. The higher level item will definitely be worth more - but you will be able to do more runs through the lower level area.
3) The Crafter
This is one of the players that says forget the gathering, I want to make things. To do this, you better have at least 10 - 20 gold ready to spend. The first 150 skill points into any craft, you will most likely lose money. In fact, I can almost guarantee it. The items below 150 aren't worth much or in demand enough to make serious cash. This can be said even with items up to level 225. However, past 225, it is pure gold. Be it Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, Alchemy, or Tailoring (note engineering and enchanting are not listed); there is money to be made.
Reasons why:
Leatherworking - there are three paths. You can only choose one. Someone will want what you can make due to only 1/3 of the people being able to make it.
Blacksmithing - same as leatherworking, but two paths.
Alchemy - getting those high level herbs is no easy task. And now that the honor system is in and potions can't be dispelled ... yeah, permanent buffs will be worth a lot.
Tailoring - bags, bags! Everyone wants a 14 or 16 slot container. Of course, a perk you get is the 18 slot container - bind on pickup sadly. Also, often missed items are shirts.
So, how do these people get their supplies?
One of two ways -
Either at the auction house or from a supplier. Often times, the crafter will find a gatherer and work a deal with them to constantly have incoming supplies. The gatherer will often times send the item through the mail system with COD, cash on delivery. This works well for both parties. And, sometimes one gatherer can supply several crafters with what they need. The gatherer and crafter also set a standard price for a stack of a certain item and this never changes once set, in most situations. Having a constant buyer/supplier is more important and convenient than getting the most for your copper. I suggest you try to set up a system like this - either if you are a gatherer or crafter.
To contact them, use the mail. Go to AH and see who is selling alot of a gathered item or crafted item, depending on if you want to supply or want to craft. Write down their name. You can try to send them a message, but more often than not, they will not be online. So, just go over to the mail and send them a nice letter. Perhaps a subject of 'Need a supplier?' or 'Can you gather x for me?' (x being herbs, leather, whatever it is you need) In your letter, basically say you saw them selling a lot of a certain item at AH and you'd like to become a constant buyer. This is VERY attractive to the gatherer as suddenly gathering x item becomes a constant reliable income for gold. It is also VERY attractive to the crafter as they can normally negotiate for it to be cheaper than AH and they have a constant supply to make their items.
The downfall - at level 60, many crafted items become obsolete. Now, this doesn't mean crafted items won't sell. Plenty of lvl 59s and down still need those items. But, what it means is that they will never sell as highly or as well as a farmed item - epic items.
The two that cost you more than you make:
Enchanting - This really can be a great tradeskill. I made tons of gold with it ... by selling what I disenchanted to other enchanters.
Rarely, and I mean basically never, will a player be willing to pay as much for an enchant as it cost you to enchant that item. Surely it can't cost that much - you say. Well, factor in the cost of what you didn't make. That is, factor in your potential earnings. In order to get enchanting ingredients, an item Uncommon (green) or better must be disenchanted. A blue item can easily go for 10 gold or up depending on your server (some 200 and up). Now, lets say every green and blue item you find and can't use gets disenchanted - the losses add up pretty quickly. In fact, they add up so quickly that the aspiring enchanter finds it hard to believe.
And, what is worse is that you don't always get the ingredient you need. There is a random chance it can be any number of ingredients. Even worse - to enchant something, it usually takes at least 2 - 3 ingredients. Let's say you disenchanted 3 blues to get the exact 3 ingredients you needed. If you had sold those blue items, you could have made 15g, assuming worth 5g (yep, a low estimate here). No one in their right mind will pay 15g for an enchant - unless it is a high high, well above 225, level enchant. And, if it is one of those enchants, then those blues certainly could have sold for well more than 5g each. If you want to be an enchanter, find a good guild that will supply you with 'trash items' - items they tried to sell at AH and didn't sell, so they send it to you.
One thing to note: Enchanting has the *potential* to make money through disenchanting. Throw-away green or blue items (ones that are really bad, no one would use) will sometimes disenchant into something worth considerably more at the auction house. Also, you can disenchant any of your old bind on equip or pickup items. Most players have to sell these to the vendor to get a very measly amount for them; you could disenchant something worth several gold from them.
Engineering - well ... sadly ... you have to be an engineer to use engineering items. And, if you can use the item, it means you can make the item (except for high levels - goblin/gnomish). Yes, there is some money to be made in engineering, but certainly not as much as the other trades. The main place money can be made is in the items required for quests.
4) Buy Low / Sell High
This is getting into the more complex of the ways to make your gold. To be able to buy low/sell high, you will need an initial investment. I suggest at least 10 gold if not 50 - 100 gold. But, 10 gold will get you started.
The strategy is simple - buy an item at a lower price than it is worth or can be sold for, and then turn around and sell it for that higher price.
To do this, many players will watch the trade channel in their main city. They watch for WTS (wanting to sell) [item]. Players selling like this want to sell their item now and not wait for AH - this is the perfect opportunity for the low/high buying player. You simply send them a private message asking how much or by saying I will give you x gold for that item. From there, you negotiate. The idea is that you try to get the item as low as possible. Make sure you always buy lower than it can sell for - this means watching the auction house like a hawk. You have to know what is worth what and how quickly it sells. Supply vs. Demand.
So, now you have your item. Let's say you were able to buy it for 2g and it can sell at the auction house - ON the weekend - for 10g. You've just made 8g. Now, all you have to do is wait until about 7pm on Friday to put your item up, or any time will do on Friday. Just do the same thing here I suggested for the farmers.
Someone doing this may turn anywhere from 1g - 2000g in a day depending on how much they buy and sell. However, a rough way of figuring it out is that you can only make twice as much as your initial investment. Sometimes you may make less, sometimes more - but never expect any more than twice what you invested.
One last note: If you see an item up for less than it sells for, you know this by watching the market, IMMEDIATLY buy the item without a second thought. If you don't, someone else will.
5) Controlling the Market
This is by far the most involved way to make money in the World of Warcraft. In this, you have to have a monopoly on the market - our example will be large glimmering shards. To start off, you will need a good bit, at least 10g if not 200g, of initial investment.
What you do is identify a market, large glimmering shards for our example, and start to up the price on it.
Let's say a stack of one large glimmering shard is selling for 90 silver. And, there are 10 shards up at the Auction House. To control this market, what you would do is completely buy out all of the large glimmering shards- every last one of them. Then, you would go back and sell them for any price you decide as you are the only supply for large glimmering shards. Let's be reasonable and only sell them for 1 gold 80 silver.
Now, people are used to them being 90 silver and will not buy them for the first week. Also, you *must* have at least 3 - 5 items up at any given time for the price you have set. If they are not yours but are at 1 gold 80 silver, no problem. If someone puts them up for less, immediately buy them out.
After about a week of doing this, people will start to accept that the price of a large glimmering shard is now 1.8g. Also, the people selling the shards will think that they have been selling at 1.8g, so they will put them up for that amount as well. Now, all you have to do is sell off all of your large glimmering shards at 1.8g - you just made twice what you invested.
Now, it may seem that the buy low/ sell high would work better - but, where it differs is that you set the price. Make sure to more than double it at first. But, once the price is accepted at 90s, then you could do the same thing, this time at 3 gold. All the time, you have more and more large glimmering shards. Sell those, and you have made 3x what you invested in the beginning.
Also, control more than one market. If you only control large glimmering shards, then you will only sell at a certain rate. Instead, control several markets. It can be anything - fish, herbs, items ... You could even decide to control the market for items level 30 - 40. That is, you buyout every item within that level range and then double the price. The people that level will need items, and they will have to buy from you.
Two things to note:
First - other people will see the rise in price in that market and decide to start selling the item as well. If too many people do this, which ALWAYS happens, abandon the market - sell what you have left for more than you bought it for and be done with it. A way to identify if there is too much supply is if there are 20+ of that same item at the auction house. So, you will be controlling a market for roughly 2 - 3 weeks before you move on to another market due to the increase in supply.
Secondly - people will NOT like you for doing this. In America (in the corporate world), this is considered illegal. You ARE monopolizing a market and giving people no choice but to buy from you. You WILL get a negative reputation if you do this long enough - especially if you stay in a market for too long. So, you may not necessarily do this with your main character.
One Last Thing - this method eats up a lot of time. You will have to check the auction house at least twice a day to make sure everything is fine and at your price. You may end up doing this over leveling even. So, only go for this method if you want a challenge. Remember, you cannot just buyout all of a market and expect the worth to change in one day - it takes at least a week of monitoring.
A note to those trying to fight the monopolizers - if they are doing it correctly, you can't beat them by selling for less. Instead, sell for more. If the price of an item goes too high, then the market will crash. Suddenly, the prices will be within reason again. You can force this by having a base price at a price you think it should be and a buyout higher than what the monopolizer is selling for. This way, someone gets the item for the right price OR the monopolizer must buy the item at a loss. There you go; there is your ammo for fighting the fight.

Here are a few things to get you going...* Pressing Shift + B opens up all of your packs. Makes selling easier. You can also shift-click any bag in the toolbar to open/close them all.
* Holding down Alt causes you to select yourself as the target for spells, buffs, etc. F1 does this as well. F2-F5 selects your fellow party members. If they have a pet, hitting their F key twice will select the pet.
* Be sure to log out inside of an Inn or major town to build up your rest bonus. This bonus is determined by how long you are in the rest area (captial cities count in their enterity) and caps at approximately 1.5 levels worth of xp doubling which takes about 2 weeks in a rest area to hit.
This time accrues whether you are logged in or not so ALWAYS log in an inn or capital city.
* Shift + Right click to auto loot kills, crafting nodes, chests, and any world object that can be manipulated.
* Shift + Left Click either posts an item into the chat window as a link if you have chat open, or it splits a stack of items. This can also be used to select how many of a non-stacked item you want to buy from a vendor.
* With a teammate targetted, typing /assist will fight what they target. In the default configuration, "F" will select their target. If you're running a pet, F1-F1-F will select whatever your pet is aggro'd on.
* Not so much at trick, but faction discounts apply to the flyers and trainers as well, so don't be so quick to throw away newbie quests that you forget to complete - they help out in the long run. Be aware that the reputation received from a quest drops off sharply when it goes grey, unless the quest is a high-profile one for that faction (i.e. Defias for Stormwind). Also, many quests give reputation bonuses in more than one faction; you see this a lot with Ironforge/Gnomeregan Exiles. Finally, if you hover over a quest-giving NPC, the game now tells you in the tooltiip which faction they're aligned with.
* The command /random # # makes dice rolls between the two numbers specified (ex: /random 1 100 will roll randomly (1-100)). It's useful for quests and such, as I always use it to roll for chests or veins of ore, etc.
* Go Swimming There are often chests at the bottom of lakes aswell as mineral nodes that won't show up on radar until you are submerged. (the lake outside Loch Modan (sp) is Amazing for tier 1 and has 5 chest spawns that I have found so far)
* Increase the range of your "Target nearest" key. Go into your WTF folder and edit the Config.wtf file. Add the following line at the bottom:
SET TargetNearestDistance "40.000000"
* The Auction House will respond to you much quicker if you narrow your search range. If nothing else, use the level range boxes, and search by armor/weapon category. Also, using the text-string search box is the fastest way I've found to find consumables.
* <Armor> of the <Animal>: These are paired stat bonuses based on the animal type, and they will always have the same two stats paired. If you're looking for stat buffing armor, and you know what stats you want, search Auction House for the following animals:
Bear: Strength, Stamina (Warrior, Paladin)
Boar: Strength, Spirit (Decent for Troll Warriors (higher regen))
Eagle: Intellect, Stamina (Mage, Warlock, Priest)
Falcon: Intellect, Agility (Druid, Shaman)
Gorilla: Strength, Intellect (Druid, Shaman)
Monkey: Agility, Stamina (Hunter, Rogue)
Owl: Intellect, Spirit (Mage, Warlock, Priest)
Tiger: Strength, Agility (Decent for non-magic classes)
Whale: Spirit, Stamina (Maybe for a weird-build Pally...)
Wolf: Agility, Spirit (Hunter that wants mana back faster)
* To make fast cash when you're really bored, farm -5/-6 humanoid creatures. They drop Linen/Wool/Silk, all of which sell very well in AH if you put low buyouts. They also drop more copper/silver than comparable beasts, demons, dragonkin, or elementals.
* Mobs turn grey (no experience) at -7.
* Cooked food stacks to higher amounts than raw food. By training cooking, you can double a single slot's worth of storage, and get more benefit.
*While on autorun, hold down the right mouse button to steer. Easier to make small course corrections this way.
*If you train a new weapon skill, head to SW Tram station. Deeprun Rats spawn as fast as you can kill them in one corner of the station. I went from 20 - 60 skill in about 15 min.
